Stand Up Paddle Adventure Brazil

Imagine warm water, golden sand and one of the most vibrant beach cultures in the world… then add stand up boards with boat transport to put together great paddle sessions along a stunning stretch of Brazil’s Atlantic rain forest coast.  Since discovering stand up paddle boarding (SUP) several years as a great crossover blend of two things we love; paddling and surfing our enthusiasm for this new sport has grown along with its popularity. When looking at paddling spots more and more we’ve found ourselves seeing potential in terms of both kayaking and stand up. While researching Brazil’s Costa Verde southwest along the coast from Rio de Janeiro for kayak expeditions it was clear the area was ideally suited for SUP.  Using our 25 years of experience putting paddling expeditions together we’ve designed a unique travel experience specifically for the stand up paddler.

Starting in Rio de Janeiro, one of the greatest beach cities in the world, this trip journeys along the serpentine coast to the 18th century colonial town of Paraty, a UNESCO world heritage site.  Here an intensely green rainforest fringed by golden sand meets a warm sea that is largely protected from swell of the open south Atlantic by Ilha Grande (Big Island) offshore. Broad bays and inlets offer a wide range of conditions ideal for SUP.  We Stay at a boutique hotel in Paraty, an eco-lodge and a village guesthouse.  Everyday we’ll have at least 3 paddle sessions plus lots of beach time. Using  a support boat run by a local fisherman each day we’ll hunt out the best paddling experiences the area has to offer; dawn patrol flat water sessions, midday down winders and afternoons at a series of picture perfect beaches for paddling, swimming, snorkeling and hanging out.

This trip is accessible to a range of previous SUP experience levels. Come discover the warmth of Brazil from the deck of a board. You’ll get to know the caicara beach culture, eat some of the freshest locally caught seafood available anywhere and come back fitter, more centered and relaxed.
