Clayoquot Sound off the town of Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia is one of the best sea kayaking destinations in Canada and, for that matter, North America. Tofino Expeditions pioneered sea kayak outfitting there nearly 25 years ago and in that time the town of Tofino and the adjacent Pacific Rim National park have become world-class destinations for lovers of the outdoors.

For the kayaker Clayoquot Sound offers the unbeatable combination of both serene protected and dynamic open water paddling, sandy beaches, beautiful campsites, wildlife and some of the best sunsets anywhere.  Eagles dot the treetops keeping an eye out for salmon, Ospreys hunt hovering over the surf line and Great Blue Herons fish the shallows. There is a population of Grey whales in the Sound and in recent years Humpback whales ply the waters here following rebounding populations of tiny bait fish.
