KAYAK GUIDE COURSE WHAT’S INCLUDED

Register for both the Kayak Guide and Open Coast course in the same season and receive a 10% discount on each course.

Cost Includes: All camp meals; expedition kayaks (participants have the option of using their own kayak), paddles and sprayskirt; a chart of the course area (yours to keep), navigation tools and safety equipment; group camping equipment (cook gear); group first aid kit; and instruction.

Certification - Successful participants receive Assistant Guide certification from the Association of Canadian Sea Kayak Guides. Evaluation is done by the instructors over the entire course. The instructors provide you with ongoing feedback and every effort is made to support you in gaining mastery of the course material.

Not Included: Transportation from your home to Port Hardy; hotel accommodation; insurance of any kind; town meals and beverages. Personal clothing, PFD, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent, dry bags, kit items of a personal nature.*

The course starts and ends in Port Hardy on the scheduled dates, (see Course Dates). The group meets at the WKI School on the evening before Day 1 for an orientation. Day 1 is a classroom navigation and weather session for the Guide course. The next 7 days are spent on a multi day expedition comprised of field exercises and interactive lectures designed to cover the certification curriculum and give you a real time experience of leadership. Day 8 the group will return to Port Hardy.

All course itineraries are guidelines and are subject to change at the discretion of the instructors due to weather, curriculum objectives and logistical conditions at the time of the trip.
