WHAT’S INCLUDED — EXPEDITION SKILLS BAJA

The cost includes: two night’s hotel accommodation, expedition kayaks, spray-skirt and paddles, safety equipment, group camping equipment (cook gear), group first aid kit, professional instructors, and camp meals.

Not included: Airfares (There are two carriers servicing Loreto from Los Angeles: Aero California (800-237-6225) and Aero Mexico (800-237-6639), airport taxes, insurance, return transportation to Loreto airport, town meals and beverages, personal clothing, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent, toiletries, mess kit (plate, bowl, cup and utensils), personal paddling gear, lifejacket and snorkeling equipment. A personal Baja equipment checklist is included with each orientation package.

The trip starts and ends in Loreto on the scheduled dates (see course dates). The group meets in Loreto on day 1 for an orientation, on day 2 the group paddles to the first camp. The next 5 days are spent progressively developing proficiency in boat handling skills, and seamanship for kayakers relevant to the tropics. The day before the final scheduled day the group paddles to the take out south of Loreto. After checking back into the Hotel there is time to explore the rustic old mission town.

All course itineraries are guidelines and are subject to change at the discretion of the instructors due to weather, curriculum objectives and logistical conditions at the time of the trip.
