EXPEDITION SKILLS BAJA

The Baja peninsula is one of North America’s popular paddling destinations. An agreeable climate, one of the most ecologically intact archipelagos in the world, and a wide range of routes make it an ideal winter escape for the passionate paddler living in northern latitudes.
The WKI Expedition Skills Baja course offers you experience on a classic Baja paddling route comprised of coastal kayaking and island-to-island crossings. While the focus is on skills development the course also includes a range of practical and logistical material that will prepare you for planning your own trips in the Baja and other tropical paddling destinations around the world.
Camping in Baja is some of the best anywhere. With virtually no flying insects or dew to speak of, you can unroll your sleeping bag under the stars and fall asleep gazing at the constellations. Imagine paddling unencumbered by heavy clothing, practicing edging and bracing, wet exits and recoveries in warm water while wearing nothing but your bathing suit. Most paddling days start early and in the afternoons leaving time for swimming, hiking, snorkeling and coastal exploration. Development of paddling proficiency and skills combined with tropical touring knowledge makes the WKI Expedition Skills Baja course an ideal compliment to the BC Coast Expedition Skills Level I Course. Paddlers with a wide range experience levels will both enjoy and benifit from this course.

“The Baja Expedition Skills course is the perfect combination - a fun holiday with superb guides and a great opportunity to hone your paddling skills...in warm water! “
— Brad Garside, Vancouver BC

“I found the instructors to be very knowledgeable, encouraging and supportive. They were always willing to go past the course outline to give us a fuller experience. I would recommend WKI without hesitation.”
